1. Lotus Glass na wyświetlaczach Samsunga [wideo]

   

   Corning Lotus Glass (fot. youtube.com / CorningIncorporated)

   Kilka dni temu została podpisana umowa pomiędzy Samsung Mobile Display a firmą Corning. Od tej pory wszystkie ekrany OLED produkowane przez Samsunga będą chronione superwytrzymałą warstwą szkła – Lotus Glass.

   Do tej pory bardzo popularną szklaną powłoką stosowaną m.in. przez Apple w iPhone’ach było Gorilla Glass. Na ostatnich targach w LasVegas Corning przedstawił następcę – Lotus Glass. Nowa generacja ekstremalnie wytrzymałego szkła jest cieńsza od swojego poprzednika (0,8 mm), zachowała jednak tę samą wytrzymałość i odporność na uszkodzenia.

   Corning powraca z niesamowitą, szklaną wizją przyszłości

   Gorilla Glass jest obecnie wykorzystywane przez ponad 30 producentów, którzy stosują je w ponad 600 produktach. Głównie są to urządzenia przenośne, jak smartfony. Nowa generacja szkła, cieńsza, a co za tym idzie – lżejsza, pozwoli na stosowanie go również w większych urządzeniach. Samsung planuje użyć Lotus Glass w telewizorach OLED.

   Jednym z istotniejszych parametrów nowego szkła jest jego większa przejrzystość. W przypadku telewizorów może to mieć spore znaczenie w kwestii oszczędności energii. Większa przejrzystość oznacza mniejszą intensywność podświetlenia, co może mieć duży wpływ na obniżenie zapotrzebowania na prąd.

   Samsung radzi sobie znakomicie

   Pierwsze urządzenia wykorzystujące nowe szkło powinny pojawić się na rynku w ciągu najbliższych miesięcy. Czy będą to również telewizory? Na razie nic nie wiadomo na ten temat.

49. Oficjalna data premiery Władcy Pierścieni na Blu-ray [aktualizacja]

    Wspominałem o prawdopodobnej dacie premiery poszerzonej edycji trylogii „Władcy Pierścieni” na Blu-ray, ale nic nie było pewne. Teraz już jest. Warner podał oficjalną datę wydania filmów. Aktualizacja - wracam jeszcze na chwilę do tematu tego wydania Blu-ray, by podzielić się oficjalnym filmem reklamującym poszerzone wydanie Blu-ray.
